Please, Please Me

Zooey Dechannel is a hard working woman.  Not only is she in a new movie this summer, 500 Days of Summer, but, she and M. Ward got their She & Him on and recorded their take of The Smiths "Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want."  I'm not sure how good the movie is going to be, but, the song is fantastic.

    The Smiths version of this is perhaps my favorite song of all time, and I love the She and Him album tremendously as well. And yet, I still don't know what I think of this.

    Yeah, I don't think it's their best effort. I think it was kinda done on a whim and it comes through in the recording.

    On the other hand I really love the version the Halo Benders did about 10 years ago. They really add their lackadaisical style that exudes that same 'woe as me' feeling Morrissey did in the original.
