Wye Oak Get Remixed And Come To The D
So, first things first--Baltimore's Wye Oak got the remix treatment from Baltimore producer Mickey Free. It's a nice re-imagining of "That I Do," it gives it a bit of a darker electronic element to it. You can find it below.
Also, they are coming to town with Cotton Jones at The Cavern on October 2. Should be a great show... in a small intimate setting.

Wye Oak Tie The Knot
Baltimore duo Wye Oak are back with a new album and single. Not quite the breakneck pace as their debut single for their last album, If Children, but it's a little bit infectious. Some big rock guitar licks mixed in with some longing lyrics.

New Wye Oak
After watching the entire series of The Wire last year, I find it interesting that anyone coming out of Baltimore makes happy music. Last year Baltimore duo Wye Oak wowed me with one of our 2008 faves "Warning" and this year looks to be no different. Although their newest song "Take It In" isn't exactly what I would call "upbeat," it's pretty catchy.
Making quick work the duo is already back with a new album The Knot. The first single "Take It In" meanders from buzzed out bluesy-ish rock in the hook to minimal guitar picking in the rest of the song.

Wye Oak Video
The good people at Yahoo! have posted this clip of Wye Oak singing their tune "Regret," not the New Order one, off their album If Children from their Who's Next series. I really dig the tie-dyed piano.

New Wye Oak
Today I got a great surprise when the new Wye Oak single, "I Don't Feel Young," was in my inbox. It's a bit of a departure from the sunny, bright, pop sound of "Warning." Starts off a little dour, but, then the mood and the jangly guitar pick up in the middle of the song. This is the second single off their new album If Children out on Merge Records on April 8.

Wye Oak

Thanks to our good friends over at Merge Records for sending us this gorgeous song by Baltimore's Wye Oak. Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner are the multi-instrumentalists that make up Wye Oak. After spending a lot of time in various bands the two came together as their last band fell apart.
Their track "Warning" reminds me particularly of the best part of Veruca Salt's vocals; particularly Nina Gordon. Their other song "Obituary", which you can check out on their Myspace page, reminds me a little bit of The La's. Either way, "Warning" is a great little power-pop track.
