Mash-Up Monday
When it comes to mash ups Chicago's The Hood Internet do a better job than most anyone else out there, and this one is no exception.

Mash-Up Monday
Today it's an attack of the one hit wonders! Although, I do find myself still bustin' a dope rhyme to "Ice, Ice Baby," that song was and is still good. It was Vanilla Ice himself that turned it into something douchey.
But, match up Robbie van Winkle's dope rhyme with Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting" and you have something that is pretty enjoyable.

Mash-Up Monday
Sometimes there are songs that, to me, are so classic no one needs to cover them or remix them because they are classic. For me one of those songs is "Downtown" by Petula Clark, I've loved that songs since I was a young un. All of that being said, it's part of todays Mash-Up Monday.
This weeks mash is with another one of my favorite songs "Murder on The Dancefloor" by Sophie Ellis Bextor. While you shouldn't really mess with a classic, this one is a good mix of the two songs.

Mash-Up Monday
Apparently Crunk isn't dead--at least not today, anyway. This has to be the oddest pairing I've heard in a mash-up: Lil' Jon and The Romantics. You remember the Romantics, don't you? Yeah, they're the one hit wonders who had the song "What I Like About You." Remember? Right.

Dave Wrangler did a pretty good job mashin' one up two of my favoritest jams for this one. He combined the Pharcyde's "Passin' Me By" with Ghostland Observatory's "Midnight Voyage."

Mash-Up Monday
It's been a while since I've heard anything exciting from Modest Mouse, but, this one is a new-oldie. It combines the beat from Kanye West with the Modest Mousers for some interesting listening.

Mash-Up Monday
On days like today I need to hear something about how great it is to be alive and out in the sunshine and all that jazz. And I can't think of a better way to bring me out of my case of the Monday's better than Mr. Louis Armstrong.
Yep, seems that if you combine the music from Radiohead with the vocal of Louis you still get a pretty damn good song.

Mash-Up Monday
I have to blame todays mash-up on my wife. She recently bought Santogold's album the other day ago and she got me hooked. I was really hesitant to listen to it, but once I did I was smitten. What I'm not hesitant about is liking Missy Elliot. She's full of clever, catchy rhymes done to Timbo beats and her songs are always good to get your ass movin'.

Mash-Up Monday
Yep, it's a Monday and it's a holiday, the sun is-a-shinin' and there is a song in my heart. Oh, and tomorrow the Texas Idiot is officially out of office.
Today, the Monday Mashup comes from a local producer LehtMo Joe. He's worked over Bowie's "Suffragette City" with ELO's "Evil Woman." I've gotten to know "Suffragette City" from playing it on Rock Band with the Mrs. (I rock that one out, y'all!) But, the re-working is quite nice with it's slow bounce.

Mash-Up Monday
So, I've been a little light on my posts for the last couple of weeks. But, don't fret, we're back and ready for a great (?) 2009!
So, lets start the first Monday of the '09 with a lil' mashup, shall we?
This week it comes from something a lot of people are familiar with: Ghostbusters. Yep, the Ray Parker, Jr. theme song has been mashed up wit' dem boyz in Mobb Deep. I've been loving this one for a while now. It's goodness.

Mash-Up Monday
Did you guys miss me? Yeah, I took a little time out to visit the famn damily last week for the holidays and all. But, we're back and getting ready for the new year.
I'm bringin' sexy back today--well, that and After Christ/Devil Comes. What does that even mean? Well, todays mash mixes and mashes Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" with AC/DC's "Hell's Bells." The bell from "Hell's Bells" use to creep me out bigtime when I was younger. I guess because I figured it tolled for me. But, then I just realized it was letting us know it was time to rock.

Mash-Up Monday
Yep, it's the last mash-up Monday before Christmas. This one is party ready, or, a good one to get you ready for the party. It takes "Sharp Dressed Man" and mashes it up with "Get The Party Started" by Pink. Yep, Pink.

Mash-Up Monday
This mash-up was quite shocking when I first saw it. I checked it out because I was such an unusual pairing--Billy Joel vs. Jay-Z. And, it was a Billy Joel song I had never heard before, well, since I'm not a Billy Joel fan and what not. To this point, all I really remember about Billy Joel is when the super-cool lifeguards use to play it at the swimming pool when I was a pup.
But, when I listened to it what came through my headphones was genius. I never knew that the former Mr. Christy Brinkley had such aggression in him. And to have that paired up with a Timbo beat is incredible.
