Under The Cover

There somethin' about Wayne that really has a hold on me.  I think it's his eccentricity that does it for me.  That plus good music and the fact he still lives in The City.  He and his nephew's band, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, have covered Madonna's "Borderline" for Warner Bros. 50th anniversary covers compilation Covered, A Revolution in Sound.

I know what you're thinking, it's going to be some weird Flaming Lips version of her song.  Well, that's not far off.  However, the Lips (and Stardeath...) put their own stamp on it an turned it into their song.  I think even Mr. Blue would love it, as long as they don't cover "Papa Don't Preach."

Mash-Up Monday

My brother actually sent this to me the other day and I thought I'd share.  It combines the greatness of Madonna's best years ("La Isla Bonita") and Marvin Gaye ("What's Goin' On?").  I know, how can you combine the Material Girl/Mom with the seriousness of Marvin's song?  Well, it definitely doesn't lose any of the emotion Marvin had in the song.  His voice over the flaminco guitars is fantastic.  It's a lively update of two classics.  Enjoy.

Iggy Pop Does Madonna

You thought I was going to post some XXX pics didn't you? Such naughty people. No, in it's stead I wanted to post what I think is awesome, but, some people don't: Iggy Pop singing "Ray of Light" by Madonna.

Yeah, I totally forgot the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show was last night. She was the only reason I wanted to watch it. So, you and I will have to settle for this crappy clip.
