Even EdVed Love The Karaoke

Sometimes Ed seems like he's angry at everything.  But, like most of us, get a little alcohol in him and he loosens right up.  Evidence:  Eddie Vedder sings "Where The Streets Have No Name" karaoke style at Cubs fantasy baseball camp.

"...Speaking as a child of the 90's"

So, I don't really know a whole lot about Mike Watt other than he was in the Minutemen then struck out on his own.  Oh, and once my brother saw him play somewhere and some dude kept yelling "Mike, where's Jay?!" several times throughout the show.  To which mike finally told him he was in a new band or something.

So, I was looking around for "The Golden State" mp3 when I happened upon this little gem from Berkeley Place--a live show of Watt's from '95 featuring Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and William Goldsmith of Sunny Day Real Estate!  I believe the writer put it perfectly when he said it's a "grunge supergroup."  Indeed.  But, I listened to their version of Pearl Jam's "Habit" and I really liked it.  Mike's hittin' the bass a little to hard, but, that's what punks do, right?  But, the best part comes when I believe Watt is the one who says the line "Speaking as a child of the 90's," excellente.

New EdVed and Corin

I believe I have stated this a couple of times now, but, I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan.  That being said, I'm really diggin' the direction the Ed has been going in the last couple of years with his solo material.  The Into The Wild soundtrack was completely different from about 99% of what Pearl Jam has done.

To that point, Ed has been joined by former PJ opener and Sleater-Kinney alum Corin Tucker to cover John Doe's "The Golden State" for his release of Golden State EP.  I've listened to this lil' number a few times now and it gets better with each listen. (Pitchfork)

Someday They'll Go All The Way

Eddie Vedder has made no secret to his obsession with the Chicago Cubs. Hell, he even attends fantasy Cubs camps. He's now ready to throw a little curse busting magic their way.

I heard a version of this on a bootleg from last year's pre-Lollapalooza show that Pearl Jam did at the Vic Theater. At that point the ode to the greatness of the Cubbies and their fans hadn't been completely finished...until now.

You can download the mp3 single here. I would recommend it because the Cubs need all the help they can get.

EdVed Tours Again

Eddie Vedder doesn't seem to be finished touring. He toured solo earlier in the spring, now with Pearl Jam and he's going it alone again. He's announced a handful, err maybe two hands full, worth of dates across this great land. And once agian Liam Finn is opening up for him on tour. (pearljam.com)

Eddie Vedder Berkeley Show

I must first of all start with the fact that I love Heather Browne! She's a fellow Pearl Jam enthusiast and a great writer for her blog is I Am Fuel, You Are Friends. She can write things in such a great way, she's a real writer.

Now that I have that out of the way she posted a great, great review of Ed's solo show in Berkeley on 4/7 along with some choice cuts.

Maybe one day I can write as well as she can. So jealous.

Eddie Vedder Solo Vancouver .Show Review

Rock & Roll Daily has a good recap/review of the first show of Ed's first solo show ever.

Also, for all you guys who've liked/loved PJ for a while now, you may remember this.  He apparently wore the Butthole Surfers shirt he use to wear from all those years ago.  (Rock & Roll Daily)

Surprise Eddie Vedder Solo Shows

Patrons who showed up to what they thought was a screening of "Into The Wild" in Seattle were surprised on Monday and Tuesday when they found out it was really an Eddie Vedder solo show.

I would also have been pleasantly surprised. The set included PJ songs "Dead Man," "Around The Bend" and "I Am Mine" as well as Into The Wild sountrack tunes like "Society" and "No Ceiling."

If seeing a surprise show featuring Ed wasn't enough, the tickets were only $5! (Billboard)
