The Fieros Get Back To Work

When I saw The Fieros they were still The Valentines and opening up for Radiant* at The Cavern (It was the first date for me and the Mrs.)  We were instantly smitten with the sonic boom pumping out of their speakers.

Then, they moved away. Last year Joey McClellan, Aaron McClellan, Chris Holston and McKenzie Smith left The D to head to the Brooklyn burough and make their name in the city that never sleeps.  As they headed to the home of TV on The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and countless others I was afraid their style would change from the garage rock rave ups they were doing here.  Well, the year away has done them some good.  Their sound hasn't changed per se, but, it's a little different.

I'm really diggin' "In My Veins"--sonically it's the most significant of their musical change.  While it still holds the garage power on the lead guitar lines, the rhythm guitar sounds jangly and more along the lines of something you would hear from Oasis.  "Songbird" and "To Pieces" have both been re-recorded.  The reverb on the vocals recalls Ian Brown of The Stone Roses.

I still think this band has what it takes to make a name for themselves.  Here's hoping they do.

Fieros Come Home

The Fieros are playing a couple of shows back in their local home town area.  They are playing a show tomorrow night at Hailey's in Denton and then one on Wednesday at 8.0 in Ft. Worth.  I wish I could make either one of these shows, The Fieros are such a great fn band live!  But, tomorrow I will be at the Uh Huh Her show at The Loft.  And, I'm not driving to Ft. Worth to see a show since I have to get up at 6a every morning.  So, that kind of sucks.

The Valentine, er, Fieros on Indie 103.1

One of the former really good Dallas bands, The Fieros, were on "Feel My Heat" on Indie 103.1.  But, it was back in July.  If you don't know anything about Indie 103.1 you should know this:  It's cool.  It's like KEGL back in the day, or Z Rock back in the day.  Yeah, that big.

So, they were on former "That 70's Show" star and music junkie Danny Masterson's show.  But, it had guest hosts that night...so, that kinda sucks.  But, being featured on that station is a BIG step in the right direction for The Fieros.  Now if they would just release a fn album that would be great.  I would think since they moved to Brooklyn they would get to know all the hipster bands and get on to a release.  But, that hasn't happened yet.  However, until that day comes you can download the songs they do have out on their Myspace page.  It's free and the music is good so do it!

Oh, and you can listen to their feature on Indie 105.3 here.  (DC9)

No Sleep 'Til...

One of my favorite local bands, The Fieros, are moving to Brooklyn. I guess they are ready to move on from the $30,000 millionaires and the lack of super-awesome music scene.

I would bet they will make a huge splash there. I wouldn't be surprised if Brooklyn Vegan or Rolling Stone has a right-up about them being the next big thing.

Their going away party will be tomorrow night at Club Dada. (DC9)

Fieros Video Shoot

No word as to what song they are shooting a video for. But, if you head down to the Doublewide on Saturday you may very well be in a new music video. If you haven't seen the Fiero's live, you should, they are a great live band.
