The Helio Sequence

It’s always nice when a band takes elements of a band or type of music you like and makes it their own. That’s what has happened with Portland, OR’s The Helio Sequence. “Keep Your Eyes Ahead," off their new record of the same name, has the nice jangly Madchester guitar sound and a little bit of electronic flourishes. The sound is like a lot of the late 80’s Brit bands like the Stone Roses. But, it would vocally be more in line with JAMC and the minimal guitar work of The Edge. I would say this is the best song I’ve heard all week, but, then I remembered the “Warning” by Wye Oak.
