100 Damned Guns Track By Track
Our good friend, Cindy Chaffin, should be happy with this one... at least I am. Paul Slavens featured Ft. Worth's 100 Damned Guns on his latest installment of Track By Track. The Guns deserve it, they are a fantastic band and double that for their live show. So... double fantastic?
You can listen to the podcast below or... you can listen to it here. More importantly buy their album Musica de Tormento here.

Vote Or Die!
It's not often, or ever, that we write about what's going on in Ft. Worth. The only time we really do is when we talk-up the greatness that is 100 Damned Guns.
They are up for another Ft. Worth Weekly music award for best C&W band. I implore you to click that little linky-dink and go on over and vote for them. It would make my heart feel good and I'm sure they would like to win. Besides, it's not like you're voting for some crappy band, this is 100 Damned Guns we're talking about!

Saturday Fun Times
Saturday night me and the Mrs. went out to see The Atoms/Eastwood/100 Damned Guns show at the City Tavern. It was the first time I'd been to City Tavern and I like the place.
The Atoms were a pretty good band, they had the rock swagger with a bit o' Southern twang thrown in. But, the night really belonged to Eastwood and 100 Damned Guns. During the Eastwood set they busted out a sweet gem from my youth, they covered Eddie Rabbit's "Drivin' My Life Away." I was super stoked to hear that one, hadn't heard it in a loooong time.
100 Damned Guns were great as always. I think I overheard the manager telling one of the band members the owner really liked them and wanted them to come back and play. Good for them. The Guns closed out their set with a sweet Waylon cover of "Good Hearted Woman" which I always dedicate to my wife.
But, the most entertaining thing of the night was the guy in the above video. I kinda feel sorry for him, but I kinda don't. You see, he was obviously very intoxicated and just having a good time. But, it was fun to see someone that drunk and having a good time. But, it was also just really, really funny to see this guy doin' whatever he was doing.

100 Damned Guns Photos
We went to Cowtown to check out the 100 Damned Guns CD release show at Fred's Texas Cafe last night. By the time we got there we missed AM Ramblers and the Make Believers which sucked. I was hoping to to at least catch the ol' Ramblers, but Fred's wasn't the easiest place to find since it's on a dark street and the street sign isn't actually on the street. So, by the time we found the place we missed everyone except for the Guns. However, I did really digs Fred's, I'm going to have to go back and have a burger there, they looked really good.

100 Damned Guns Album Release Saturday
Ft. Worth's finest Honky Tonk heroes are celebrating the release of their new album Musica de Tormento this Saturday at Fred's Texas Cafe in Ft. Worth. If you remember we hipped you to three new songs of theirs a while back. So, seeing as my plans to go out of town this weekend have been scrapped, I believe I will be heading to Cowtown for the show. Denton's AM Ramblers and the Make Believers will be playing as well.

Yeah, They Local
There are many, many, many Roots, Americana, Alt-Country and Country bands in the DFWd area but one of my absolute favorites is 100 Damned Guns. The Ft. Worth six piece combines a bit of rock and roll swagger with a lot of Honky Tonk attitude. Their music is reminiscent of what I grew up listening to--Outlaw Country with the musicianship of seasoned Music Row veterans. They have a sound that owes as much to Hank Williams as it does to Gary Stewart, Waylon and Willie.
Lead vocalist Judd Pemberton has a voice tailor made for underground Country music--from one song to the next his voice goes from angst to heartbreakingly tender and both sound heartfelt without a hint of pretense.
Their live shows are spectacular, for my money they put on one of the better shows around. Their version of the traditional song "Hard To Love" in their set is outstanding. They turn the Bluegrass staple into a hard charging anthem.
Below are a few songs to whet your appetite for their follow-up to Songs of Pain, Murder and Woe titled Stay Out of Nashville!

100 Damned Guns at The Lakewood
That's right! 100 Damned Guns will play the Lakewood Theater this Friday to support the new movie "Blood on The Highway." (Not to be confused with Dylan's Blood on The Tracks or Blonde on Blonde) Watch the trailer here.
The Ft. Worth boys have music featured in the film. Sure, it's a low budget indie film but so was "Love And A .45" and look what that did for the Rev and Renee Zellweger. If you haven't seen 100 Damned Guns play then you are really missing out. One of the true unheralded local bands in quite some time.

100 Damned Guns

They have a combination of rock attitude, old country swagger and Mick Jagger showmanship. They mainly play the Ft. Worth area, and Dallas a little. But, you really should check out one of their shows, because believe me, you will not be disappointed.
Click on their picture above and it will take you to their Myspace page where they have a new song "One More Time." It's excellent.
You can pick up their debut album Songs of Pain, Murder and Woe here.
