About Last Night... Neko Case

I've had the opportunity to see Neko Case in concert twice now and I've not been disappointed either time. She is in a category with the like of Alison Krauss as far as her voice is concerned, they both have pure singing voices where they don't have to strain to hit the notes needed in a performance.

You can check out my "Last Night Review" of the show for The Dallas Observer here. Last night the place was packed and I was sandwiched in between a few really tall guys, so, I only got a few pics an no video this time.

Neko Case Tickets Giveaway

So, again, the Granada has given us three pair of tickets to give away for... Neko Case. I guess the post title and image up there kinda gave it away. But, what can I do?

So, if you would like a pair of tickets to the show, email bonafidedarling (at) gmail.com with "I Too Love Neko Case" in the subject line and one pair will be yours.

I would like to extend a very special thanks to the Granada for working with BFD to bring great music to the people.

Update: All the tickets have been given away, congrats to our winners!

Neko Gets Live For Oregonians

It seems lately that I've seen Neko Case live on tape every other week.  She's been hitting up the late night talkies and everything in between performing songs from her fantastic new album Middle Cyclone.  Well, you can go over to Stereogum to get a few songs she performed on Oregon Public Radio.

Now if she would just hit up Dallas again I would be a happy boy.  (via Stereogum)

The Love Affair Continues

Last night I watched Uncle Dave as he interviewed the always grating Drew Barrymore just waiting to hear what Neko Case was going to sing.  Her live version of "This Tornado Loves You" was very impressive.  However, what I couldn't help but notice was the phalanx of back up singers.  She usually just employs Kelly Hogan (the one of the left) and Kelly didn't seem to happy to share the back up spotlight with a bunch of Suzy Come-Lately's.

Neko Case Interview--Not With Me

I was talking to Kevin from Eastwood (ow, my foot!) last week and he told me that I had gotten Neko Case'snew song "People Got A Lotta Nerve" stuck in his head.  I was really happy to hear this because A) I love that song and 2) I like turning people on to music and C) Neko's new album is fantastico.

That being said here is a really interesting interview with the Neko Case where she talks about her album.  I know, crazy, right?  Also, live on tape footage of her singing "People Got A Lotta Nerve."  I love the way she and her backup singer Kelly harmonize together, it's greatness.

New Neko Case Video

Neko's vidie for "People Got A Lotta Nerve" is out and follows in lock-step with the animal theme.  To be more precise, it's more like a children's book for playing with animals.  Oh, and the Killer Whale eats her at the end.

New Neko Case

Neko is at it again--she letting everyone download her new single for free.  It's good, not as good as her first single "People Got a Lot of Nerve," but it's the best use of a music box/jack-in-the-box I've heard used on a song...ever.  Her new album comes out next week, March 3.

New Neko Case

I was oh so happy to wake up this morning to find out my sweet darling Neko Case has released her first single for Middle Cyclone.  I could listen to her all day long, such a great voice and beautiful music.

The song is a little short, I was a little disappointed by that.  But, it's a great song and I hope she comes back to town really soon like.  Her album comes out on March 3 and I can't wait!

Also, I'm wondering if there are two camps of Neko fans.  My brothers likes her, but only with the New Pornographers.  I like her solo stuff better.  Is this just a singular things amongst the fam or are there split camps out there everywhere?

Neko Case Let's You In

I believe the night I saw Neko Case at the Granada was the night I fell in love with her.  She has a beautiful, honey smooth voice and is fun to look at.  Her music has the been-there-done-that quality with stories that are easily relatable to you yourself and those you know.

With that being said, enjoy the behind the scenes whilst she tells her tale of creating her new album Middle Cyclone.

Neko Case Tonight

Tonight Neko Case is going to be at the Granada and I'll be there covering it for DC9 at Night.  I'm hoping it's going to be a great show!  Last nights Black Keys show was alright.  The band was tight, but, the crowd completely ruined it for me.

*EDIT* You can check out my "Last Night" review here.  Oh, and here's a pic a snuck in with my camera phone.  Yeah, I know--excellent quality, right?

Neko Case at The Granada

New Pornographer Neko Case will be playing the Granada Theater in Dallas on September 27.  I'm really pumped about this one, I love her voice...so angelic, so lovely.
