Tonight I will be checking out Sarah Jaffe's set for the Observer. But, you can check out an interview she did recently with My Denton Music.

Hopefully I will be able to take my lil' camera in and take pics of the shows throughout the weekend, Saturday I'll be checking out Horse Feathers. So, should be a nice weekend for everyone.

If you still don't have your tickets, get info and show times here.

RTB2 | When Hammer Hits Stone | Video

Today the Observer posted one of our favorite songs from last year, RTB2's "When Hammer Hits Stone." The video servers as a visual queue to the bands lo-fi roots as it, well, is pretty lo-fi.

Not only did the Denton duo release a vidie for this rockin' ditty (see what I did there?), but also came news of the bands latest release, a live album titled In People out later this month.

Smile Smile @ Good Records

This past Saturday we went to check out Smile Smile's in-store appearance at Good Records. It was an intimate affair with Ryan on guitar and Jencey on keys. In between songs they told a little bit of back story about the songs that are featured on Truth On Tape.

You can read all about how Smile Smile has stayed together through a lot of turmoil in my feature article about them in an Observer box near you. Or, you can click here and read it on your screen... either way is fine with me.

VOTE BFD BEST LOCAL BLOG!

The ballots are up for the '09 "Best of Dallas" poll on The Dallas Observer's web site and there is a "Best Local Blog" category. Now folks, I'm not above begging. Maybe strongly asking for you to vote Bona Fide Darling as the best local blog. I would like to think I serve the people who are daily readers and I would hope you would vote for me.

You see, ever since I was a young boy my dream has been to one day win the "Best Local Blog" in the "Best of Dallas '09" poll. Not unlike Tiger Woods, I too had a hand written note of future accomplishments tacked up on my wall... and this award was one of them. Sure, blogging wasn't popular then and hardly anyone had the internet. But, you see, even then I was a visionary.

So, all of that being said VOTE FOR ME here.

Robert G-G-G-Gomez In Space

I have to say I'm really digging a lot of the DC-9 in Space weekly installments. The one for this week is Robert Gomez...and I'm diggin' it. Like most of these installments it's shot very well and edited very well and the bands always sound great. Plus, it's the best use of an old typewriter as percussion I've ever witnessed.

About Last Night... Camera Obscura

Last night was the Camera Obscura show at The Loft.  I was really looking forward to the show and I wasn't let down by seeing them live.

Probably the best part of the show was that there wasn't all the talking going on during the show.  I couldn't believe it, you could actually hear the band without the din of voices all around you!

If you want to read my review on the show you can go over to DC9 at Night.  You can also check out pics from the show at our Facebook or Myspace page.

Neko Case Tonight

Tonight Neko Case is going to be at the Granada and I'll be there covering it for DC9 at Night.  I'm hoping it's going to be a great show!  Last nights Black Keys show was alright.  The band was tight, but, the crowd completely ruined it for me.

*EDIT* You can check out my "Last Night" review here.  Oh, and here's a pic a snuck in with my camera phone.  Yeah, I know--excellent quality, right?
