If you head on over to DC9 at Night you'll can read the Jeff Liles article about his days as a booking agent for the old Prophet Bar in Deep Ellum. You know, back when Deep Ellum was still thriving? The article centers around his inteactions working with Screamin' Jay Hawkins of "I Put a Spell On You" fame. One of the best parts is when he booked The Reverend Horton Heat to open and Hawkins got pissed because he thought the good Rev was trying to upstage him. Little did he know, the Rev always puts on a great show.
Like I said, it's a very interesting read.
